Joey Barton Lashes Out Again
Last night’s clash between Blackburn and Middleborough was one of many exciting Wednesday night premier league fixtures. Sam Allerdyce’s side always go well and St. Jame’s park and last night was no different. The two sides matched each other in terms of form and despite displaying match winning form, the Magpies conceded a 2-1 defeat to Blackburn.
An excellent game was overshadowed by a incident of violence however. Newcastle midfielder and well know bad boy Joey Barton again lost his rag last night as he lashed out at Morten Gamst Pederson. Barton strode up to Pederson and landed a discrete but powerful fist to the chest. Pederson collapsed clutching his chest.
After the incident occurred, Pederson and his team mates informed the ref of the incident, but Barton churlishly denied the claim, seemingly forgetting that his every move was being recorded by several TV cameras.
Barton has been playing well for an ever improving Newcastle side but this incident proves that his continuing anger management issues refuse to subside. Barton has been reprimanded in the past for a string of violent acts including extinguishing a cigar in a fans eye while playing in Thailand.
Football has moved on from the crowd trouble and raucous atmosphere the surrounded the game some years ago, it seems players like Barton are stuck in the past however. This shows that Barton’s violent, aggressive attitude is still prone to raise its ugly head from time to time.
In my view each time such an incident occurs Barton should be banned for the remainder of the season and fined.If this were to happen, he’d surely have to get out loans Hitelek as the Hungarians say to pay for the violent acts he commits. This kind of behaviour is unwelcome in the modern game and while others do have histories, they have matured with age, letting their football do the talking on the pitch rather than their fists off it.
